Hello All,
another huge gap in my knowledge I wonder if you can help with please:
(kernel 2.6.0-test2 .... I know it's a testing kernel but that's what
makes it an interesting learning experience)
cat /proc/sys/dev/parport/parport0/autoprobe
CLASS:PRINTER;
MODEL:BJC-6200;
MANUFACTURER:Canon;
DESCRIPTION:Canon BJC-6200;
COMMAND SET:BJL,BJRaster3,BSCC,TXT01,BJScan2;
http://mumford1.dyndns.org/~bs7452/linuxhelp/cups.html
says "If there isn't a "parport0" subdirectory in "parport", then the
parallel port is probably not setup properly."
Micro:~# modprobe parport
FATAL: Module parport already in kernel.
dmesg | grep lp
On node 0 totalpages: 130880
Uniform Multi-Platform E-IDE driver Revision: 7.00alpha2
lp0: using parport0 (polling).
I've looked at
http://www.linuxprinting.org/howto/html-single/#new-parport-device
but it seems to only refer to modules and as I can't find the parallel
port I'm wondering if I should have made it a module in the first place
and if there's a work around or if I need a new kernel compile.
Guess it's probably something pretty simple I should know how to do but
don't so any help would be great.
Thanks,
Daniel.
(ps - it worked right away with my last 2.4 - maybe I just jagged it)
