    Ah yes, I tried those doc's first.:
    menem:/home/mark# mysqladmin -u root password 'secret'
    mysqladmin: connect to server at 'localhost' failed
    error: 'Access denied for user: 'root@localhost' (Using password: NO)'

    And I swear to you, I never set a password! I freshly installed mysql, and I
    cannot access it. Could this be a DNS problem?

    (When I ping localhost, I do get respons from 127.0.0.1) I'm at a loss...
