The 8139too driver is compiled into the bf24 kernel series. But it is
a modules in other kernel series.

Too bad. You should have been fine. But when you install a modular
kernel, which I recommend, then you will need to add 8139too to
/etc/modules. You can just edit the file. Or 'modconf' works
wonderfully. Once you are running a modular kernel it will then show
    up in the modconf list.

Compiled in drivers do not show up in lsmod.
