Detect if X11 is sleeping/locked

    Is there a way to detect if my screen has blanked?

    I have a background script that updates my root window but I'd like it
    to first check if the screen has been blanked (from inactivity) and avoid
    fetching the remote images when blanked.

    Any idea?
