This I was able to work around by manually running modprobe 3c59x for my
network card. Then ifdown eth0 and ifup eth0 both if commands complained
but they still worked.

gdm is broken after latest upgrade. Failsafe works but no default gnome.

I am connected and I hope another update/upgrade will correct these
problems
