Hi,
I always use my LITE-ON LTR-12101B, ATAPI CD/DVD-ROM drive to write to
CD-RW disks, in either woody or sarge.
Today I was asked to copy an audio CD, which I did.
To my surprise cdrecord would not write to the CD-R disk, but would to a
CD-RW one.
I tried 2 different CD-R disks, from different manufacturers.
The error you get is:
/hdb7Sun Apr 25-18:54:38HDB1# cdrecord -v speed=4 dev=0,0,0 -audio
/hdb7/track*
...
cdrecord: Input/output error. test unit ready: scsi sendcmd: no error
CDB: 00 00 00 00 00 00
status: 0x2 (CHECK CONDITION)
Sense Bytes: 70 00 02 00 00 00 00 0A 00 00 00 00 3A 01 00 00
Sense Key: 0x2 Not Ready, Segment 0
Sense Code: 0x3A Qual 0x01 (medium not present - tray closed) Fru 0x0
Sense flags: Blk 0 (not valid)
cmd finished after 3.669s timeout 40s
cdrecord: No disk / Wrong disk!
/hdb7Sun Apr 25-18:57:05HDB1# exit
And it takes him 3 minutes to come to that conclusion.
I can read from CD-R or CD-RW, I can write to CD-RW but I get this with
a CD-R.
What's the consensus, the drive went bad? Why will it write to CD-RW and
not to CD-R?
Thanks!
Hugo
