'ello,
I am trying to justify buying a new PowerBook G4 (1.5GHz) over a far
cheaper x86 laptop. I'm buying it for my final year at University (I
use a laptop in lectures because I'm visually impaired and also my
project requires me to be able to work in a number of places where
desktops may not be available). It'll be my only computer whilst I'm
there.
This post is really aimed at the Debian PPC users. I was wondering if:
* Debian (Sarge/Sid at the current time) works on this PowerBook (I'd be
going for the 15'' model).
* There are any known limitations with Debian on this Machine.
* What hardware does/doesn't work -- e.g. Gigabit Ethernet, Wireless
Ethernet, FireWire 800, Audio, Graphics (ATi Radeon 9700 Mobile).
* Have there been any production issues like there were in the past
(blotch screens, loose catches)? I've not found mention of any so far
but I never owned a Mac and am not sure which are the best sites to look
at for information like this.
Thanks in advance for any advice/information you may have; it's greatly
appreciated.
bye just now,
