    sorry, could you expand on the white rain, is it that instead of a gui you
    just have a white screen or is it that all the virt terms (try
    ctrl-alt-f{1->6} to check) have a white screen, if it is a white screen
    instead of the gui, is it featureless or is it a 'grainy white'
