    With Gnome, and so this means with Nautilus, i think the icons of
    mounted drives appear on the desktop if they are present in your
    /etc/fstab with sensible names.

    I don't use any automounter or udev fancy stuff, so someone correct me
    if i'm wrong, i've never had time to look at the Nautilus
    documentation or sources... =)
