If you were running Debian, which is what this list is for, I'd suggest
running "dpkg-reconfigure xserver-xfree86" and tinkering with the video
settings. But since you're running Suse, I haven't a clue.
But in response to your subject line, I can almost guarantee it is an X
issue, and not a KDE or Gnome issue.
