    Since most of the packages I use are from the testing release, I'm going
    to upgrade my system to testing.

    As I have a Broadcom ethernet controller I currently use kernel-image
    2.4.26-2-686-smp from woody-proposed-updates.

    My server is a HP ProLiant DL140.

    So I need a kernel witch supports dual Pentium4, Broadcom BCM5700 and 2G
    ram (CONFIG_HIGHMEM4G=y).
    Can I use 2.4.26-2-686-smp in the testing release?
    What would you recommend?

    # dpkg -l | grep kernel-image

    on PPr
    ii kernel-image-2 2.4.26-1woody. Linux kernel image for version 2.4.26

    Also I noticed this:
    <snip src="http://www.debian.org/doc/manuals/reference/ch-woody.en.html">
    Note that tracking the testing distribution of Debian can have the side
    effect of delaying the installation of packages containing security
    fixes, since such packages are uploaded to unstable and only later
    migrate to testing.
    </snip>
    Is there anything to do about that?

    As I already have testing in /etc/apt/sources.list I'll just change
    /etc/apt/preferences like this:
    Package: *
    #Pin: release a=stable
    Pin: release a=testing
    Pin-Priority: 600

    Then,
    apt-get update; apt-get upgrade; apt-get dist-upgrade

    Is that all?

    Thanks,
    Jacob
