    No, you just need to understand how it works.

    X server is a *screen server*, thus it is your screen/station.

    X client is a program that wants to talk to a "screen server" so that it can
    display something.

    There, easy to remember now, isn't it? the server/client notion is not
    backwards. It is exacly right.
