    Thanks to all for your replies.

    I got it fixed. I guess either I screwed up or something else did in
    compiling the kernel because I compiled another one and it worked fine.
        I guess that's what I get for compiling a kernel at 3:00 in the
    morning when I shoulda been sleeping. ;)
