My bad. I should have said "what other files in /etc need
to be writeable." BootCD already cleans /var and /tmp and
they use < 200K of the ramfile at boot.
BTW, I ran "find /etc -mmin -10" and got:
mtab, motd, network/, network/ifstate, and adjtime
Plus several lockfiles in /etc/vmware/.../smb/.../lock
and etc/hotplug/net.enable.
I also added fstab and hostname as these will be
convenient to edit.
I haven't tested it yet.
