    Hi,

    have you tried TabbrowserExtension? It does a whole lot more than just
    add a close button and works in Firefox 1.0.

    While I am at it: try also NeedleSearch, StumbleUpon, Preferences
    Toolbar, and MouseGestures... they are worthwile
