    It sounds like you want some kind of _proof_ that Linux is "better" than
    XP. I don't think you'll find any such thing. Only your friend can decide
    which he likes most. Even if you manage to find a list of all the + for
    Linux and all the - for XP, every person still has his own preferences
    and reasons for choosing either product. I think the only way is to
    actually show your friend how Linux compares to XP in the particular
    areas he is interested in. Or, make him so curious about Linux that he'll
    eventually just wants to try it out for himself.

    But Linux is not for everyone, and it's not meant to be. For someone who
    doesn't have the curiousity, it's probably not the best OS, even if it
    does everything better from a technical point of view. So I think you
    should look more at how Linux would fit into your friend's situation than
    to try to do a general comparison with XP. You tell me, or him, why is
    Linux better for him. If you really need a list of reasons for choosing
    Linux over XP to give him, then maybe it's not for him. Maybe he just
    wants a computer that works out of the box and doesn't want the specific
    advantages that Linux has.. that we find so interesting.
