    hey folks,

just bought a cheap SMC printserver/wireless router combination () for
our home network. I'm trying to figure out how to configure CUPS to
print to an attached printer (Brother hl-1440). of course the manual
only talks about windows, so it's not very informative. Some quick
googling suggests I need to use set a URL like the following in CUPS:

    lpd://192.168.2.1/L1

where 192.168.2.1 is the router ip, and L1 is the name of a queue or
something. Unfortunately this doesn't seem to work -- the printer
sork of groans and tries to print, but nothing's actually emitted.
Has anyone managed to set up some printer to work with some
printserver -- and do you have any hints? Thanksm uch,

    matt
