I've got the following installed on an up-to-date Sarge system:

ii hal 0.4.7-2 Hardware Abstraction Layer
ii pmount 0.7.1-1 mount removable devices as normal user
ii gnome-volume-m 1.1.3-2 GNOME daemon to auto-mount and manage

However, Gnome isn't automounting USB pen drives, and isn't even
creating the /media entries. My guess is that, for whatever reason,
/usr/sbin/fstab-sync isn't being called when a new device is inserted,
but I'm not sure why not.

Does anyone have any suggestions on how to debug this behavior?
