    Hmmm, so does 24.222.whatever actually give you an IP address? If
    you're on a different network segment (same ISP, but different segment),
    I can't see how it would.

    Other things to check - in /var/log/syslog for entries for service
    'dhclient'. Can you post a couple of snippets?
