    Hello,

Has anyone been able to get an ATI Rage 128 All-In-Wonder to work with
    Sarge?

First thing I did was to install the Debian packages. Upon running
    xatitv I got the following:

GATOS: No ATI PCI/AGP Cards ?
    GATOS: gatos_inita(): Invalid argument
    xatitv: gatos_init(): Invalid argument

Then, thinking that the Debian package might not be as up to date as
the upstream source, I downloaded the binary tar file for X 4.3, per
    these instructions:

    http://gatos.sourceforge.net/ati.2.php

This overwrote some files in /etc/X11R6 and added others, but it
didn't make any difference: same error.

Then I did an dpkg-reconfigure xserver-xfree86 and made sure that
ATI was selected: no difference, even after restarting the server
    and rebooting.

Then, after not finding an ATI-specific driver in the lsmod output,
I went looking for it in /lib/modules/2.6.8-2-386. I found what
seems the appropriate one: aty128fb and added it to /etc/modules.
    Dmesg says:

aty128fb: Found Intel x86 BIOS ROM Image
    aty128fb: Rage128 BIOS located
    aty128fb: Rage128 PD PRO PCI [chip rev 0x1] 16M 128-bit SDR SGRAM (1:1)
fb0: ATY Rage128 frame buffer device on Rage128 PD PRO PCI
aty128fb: Rage128 MTRR set to ON
    Capability LSM initialized

So it seems that the card is known to the system, but starting xatitv
still returns the original error message.

What am I missing? Is watching TV with this card possible at all under
    sarge?

After the latest manual (non-package) steps, I notice that X takes a lot
longer to start, but it eventually does. It appears that it never
used acceleration, and still doesn't. After shutdown -r the screen
never comes back on. It only does after hitting the HW reset button.

Any steps specific to Debian to get this card to work?

A google search turned up this:

    http://answers.tveasy.co.uk/c.o.l.hardware/Distro-wGfRoR.htm

One person claims to have made it work a long time ago, but likely
not with Debian and he doesn't say how.

    Thanks for any info.

    Augustine
