installation of NIC

    I've installed the Sarge base, without a NIC, from a CD.

    I know how to run base-config but it can not configure
    a NIC can it? I do not find modconf; probably not there.
    (Seems odd for a base installation to omit something
    that important.)

    Someone please point me towards documention which
    explains how to install a kernel module, driver & etc.
    and get a NIC working.
