No , i guess it is just that it was a small team work. Getting a driver in
the kernel requires quite some cleanups , then one have to maintian it
actively . The flow of bug reports grow heavily.

Though i want to use it for a long time i have stopped bilding it as it is
quite a time consuming process. I will follow this ITP closely.
What is more interesting is that getting the driver in debian will require
quite the same fixes as for the kernel .

I hope to be able one day to merge the improvments the spca5xxx driver
have made over the gphoto module ... the latter have not improved for
    years .

    Greetings
    Alban

PS : the phillips issue was not about IP issues. It was more a personality
conflict and whether the kernel should support proprietary drivers
actively (the previous phillips free driver only supported really low
resolution adn one have to downlmoad a closed plugin to take it to full
speed/quality). Though last news where the improvments have been
reenginnered and the driver being fully open source driver now supporting
the cameras in their full cpabilites, though maintains by another
    developper).
