I have a following problem with alsa. I can play a wav file by
`bplay' with no problem, but when I try to play by `aplay' I get a
message:
ALSA lib pcm.c:1947:(snd_pcm_open_conf) Invalid type for PCM default
definition (id: default, value: cards.pcm.default)
aplay: main:508: audio open error: Invalid argument
I have a GUS MAX card. The file /etc/modprobe.d/sound contains:
alias snd-card-0 snd-gusmax
alias sound-slot-0 snd-gusmax
options snd-gusmax index=0 port=0x220 irq=5 dma1=1
I also added modules snd-gusmax and snd-pcm-oss to /etc/modules,
because they do not autoload when I try to play anything. I have
kernels 2.6.8 and the newest 2.6.11. The above problem occurs for
both versions.
I remember that I got alsa working several months ago. After some
update, few months ago, it havn't worked anymore. I havn't need
alsa, because oss has been working, but now I want to take advantage
of alsa functionality.
I googled a lot but I couldn't find anybody with this problem.
Please help.
Thanks in advance,
dummy
