One solution is to use the DRI packages which install xorg, although if I am
not mistaken its installed besides xfree. On the other hand you get proper 3d
acceleration using that. You can find them by adding (IIRC):
deb http://www.nixnuts.net/files/ ./
and installing:
drm-trunk-module-src
xlibmesa-gl1-dri-trunk
xserver-xfree86-dri-trunk
