    The sarge release is my first experience with Debian. I downloaded
    the install floppies, booted from floppy, and then FTP installed.

    Doing that on two boxes, I've had no stability problems at all. But in
    my case, I know my hardware and power source are solid. Many software
    problems can be explained by marginal power and/or hardware.

    Don't know if that's true for you, or not, but without scopes and
    logic analyzers, creeping corruption is sometimes the best way to know
    when you have hardware and/or power problems.
