    btw, the configuration file is a file that tells the kernel compilation
    process what to compile into the kernel, what to leave out, what to
    compile as modules, etc. Take a brief look at "/boot/config[your kernel
    version]" to get an idea of what it looks like. Even though you probably
    haven't compiled your own kernel, the Debian people who did compile your
    kernel for you, included the config file in the kernel package; that's
    why the file is on your machine even though you didn't do the compiling.
