OK, I answered my own question ... the overwriting of resolv.conf is caused by
DHCP. I just changed all IP's to static, so that is gone.
I am unable to get my system to work with anything other than 192.168.1.1 in
resolv.conf though. The only options in the dlink router are:
- don't do DNS relay
- use auto-discover DNS
- use user DNS
and in any of those cases, doing DNS directly from the linux box doesn't work.
