    I've seen this too, now I use gamin on sid as an alternative to fam and I don't have this problem anymore.

    also, that's moving on the kernel side, 2.6.13 now uses inotify which is supported by gamin.
    but I'm not sure the debian package uses inotify yet. (well, 2.6.13 was released yesterday)
