    I can report the same problem.

    "aptitude upgrade" fails because a series of post-installation scripts
    exits with "28690 Illegal instruction ldconfig". I also get "Illegal
    instruction" when invoking ldconfig manually.
    "dist-upgrade" equally fails. I also tried -f option for both variants.
    Always the same.

    Here is an example session:

    My /etc/apt/sources.list contains:

    After the first failure I removed the line "deb http://excess.org/
    unstable main" without noticing any difference. I also read Chapter 6 -
    Debian package management of the Debian Reference at without getting
    enlightment...
