    I'd just finished doing it... it worked, but I also got *all the
    garbage* I had in my home :-(

    By garbage, I don't only mean old files, but also some configurations
    which might have changed (like fonts that were not installed in the new
    system).

    That's what I was trying to avoid, in the first place.
