    Hello,

I've been struggling with X using up LOADS of memory lately, and after reading
up a bit on known issues etc I found out that, according to xrestop, uim
    seems to leak badly.

This is a snippet from a short time after booting:

Pixmaps: 62882K total, Other: 108K total, All: 62990K total
    2800000 14 73 1 171 13 16702K 3K 16705K ? uim
    2000000 14 19 1 168 10 16700K 2K 16702K ? <unknown>

It grows quickly - very quicky... after about two hours I got this:

Pixmaps: 241009K total, Other: 168K total, All: 241177K total
    2800000 14 73 1 908 14 90402K 3K 90405K ? uim
    2000000 14 19 1 905 11 90400K 2K 90402K ? <unknown>

It grows at an alarming rate - with xrestop running I can literally see it
eating ram; it might be a wrong impression, but it seems to me that it goes
up when I type in gtk apps (normal text or japanese makes no difference).
Last night the number for uim was 300+ megs. I use uim-xim,
uim-toolbar-gtk-systray and uim-helper-server to input japanese in my apps.
Is this a known issue? Any idea for a fix?

    Thanks already,

    Lennert

PS: I'm not subscribed to the list - if anyone who replies would be so kind as
to add me in CC, that'd be most kind.
