sorry couldn't resist (see other post)

ummm.. I can only assume that the default and probably very permissive udev rules just create a lot more devices than are needed. mine has a whole ton of pty's and tty's that I surely don't need, but some device spawns this massive pile of them. Editing the udev rules would probably clean this up?
