Also, you can put the following in /etc/apt/apt.conf
Accquire::http::Proxy "http://username:password@proxyhost:portnumber";
The quotes and semicolon at the end are necessary or apt will say that there
is junk at the end of the config file.
I don't think anyone has suggested this one yet.
