Emulex 7000E configuration

I have an Emulex 7000E fibrechannel controller card that I have hooked
into a Compaq RA4100 raid array box.
The driver for the emulex 7000e loads (the lpfc module) but once it
loads, there is no way to scan for the drives that are located off of
the emulex.
Does anyone have any experience working with these cards that can give
me a tip or three?
