What is the difference between the two latex implementations available
under debian?

I think the main difference is that texlive is the new packaging, which is
more modular (or something like that) and that tetex is the one that has
been around for a while and will likely be deprecated and eventually
removed in favor of texlive.

Good question Micha. I didn't notice it until you asked. Seems it is time
to shift to texlive now.

However, if I remove tetex, all the following packages would be removed:

auctex* cjk-latex* dvi2ps* dvipdfmx* hevea* latex2html* latex2rtf*

and I didn't find any substition packages begin with texlive, execpt
texlive-pdfetex.

I can't live without the above tools. Does anyone has the solution?

Funny thing to me is that texlive even has a Tibetan language
package, texlive-lang-tibetan, but don't have a package for CJK. :-(

Hi,

I think some of those packages that get removed with tetex have
different versions that will get installed with texlive. I don't know
about all of them, but it's probably worth checking before filing those
bugs :)
