Midnight Commander in Gnome Terminal

Hi,
When using MC in a text mode (console) the Ctrl-J copies the highlighted filename into a command line. However, this doesn't work in Gnome Terminal, it seems that the keys combination is captured and interpreted as a new line. Is it possible to disable such behaviour? I couldn't find anything relevant in the settings of Gnome Terminal.
Thanks for any help,
Tad
