Ralink RT2561/RT61: Network is down

Hello:
I tried to get my RaLink working using the driver from SourgeForge. When dtarting I get the following:

Listening on LPF/ra0/00:13:46:8a:ab:09
Sending on LPF/ra0/00:13:46:8a:ab:09
Sending on Socket/fallback/fallback-net
DHCPDISCOVER on ra0 to 255.255.255.255 port 67 interval 6
receive_packet failed on ra0: Network is down

Now I tried:

modinfo rt61
filename: /lib/modules/2.6.18-1-k7/extra/rt61.ko
author: http://rt2x00.serialmonkey.com
description: Ralink RT61 802.11abg WLAN Driver 1.1.0 BETA1 2006/06/18
license: GPL
vermagic: 2.6.18-1-k7 SMP mod_unload K7 REGPARM gcc-4.1
depends:

parm: ifname:Network device name (default ra%d) (charp)
parm: debug:Enable level: accepted values: 1 to switch debug on, 0 to switch debug off. (int)

But:

dmesg | grep ra0
ra0 (WE) : Driver using old /proc/net/wireless support, please fix driver !
ra0: no IPv6 routers present

I am at lost from there. Can someone help? Thank you
Thierry
