Yes, but not 100%. Along with the chipset you also need additional chips
to make it work. This is especially true for tv tuner cards. Even if
the chipset is supported, you might find some implementation that uses
some unknown tuner chip that the module doesn't know about.

So even if you manage to nail down that "Device A" uses "Chipset X" and there is support for "Chipset X" in the kernel, then it STILL might not work. Because Device A might use Chipset A along with Additional Chips B, C, and D.

So then if you somehow managed to pin down "Device A" uses "Chipset X" and also uses Chips B, C, and D, and support for all of those chipsets is in the kernel, THEN.... maybe it would work. lol Is that something like right?
