Hi list.
I need ad advice. We have to buy a new raid 5 sata controller with 8
ports available. We already had an Areca arc-1120 but we got some
problems, so we decided to change it.
Looking on internet i found this tree possibilities (ah sorry...we have
to use a pci-x controller):
3WARE 9550SX-8LP
HIGHPOINT RocketRAID 3220
Adaptec Serial ATA II RAID 2820SA
The first two give support also to bare linux kernel 2.6.x and both web
and cli monitoring tool for all distro.
The third one give officially support to just suse and red hat, but
works nicelly on other linux too (i have tried a 2410 on few systems).
I'm thinkink about the 3ware card, but i saw this Highpoint that has
very nice features (ate least on the paper).
Does anybody tried them?
Somebody can give and advice?
Thank you all
Pier
PS: I'll use debian Etch on this server and it will be just a file server.
