Please note, that the FILE ~/.Xresources is deprecated in favour of

You can load ~/.Xdefaults or ~/.Xresources with xrdb -load
.~/.Xdefaults or xrdb -load ~/.Xresources but how do you load the
~/.Xresources/ directory? I made the directory but nothing changed
since it did not load.

This I have forgotten to tell you :-)

You need to set the

XAPPLRESDIR=${HOME}/.Xresources

in one of your login files which are sourced like ~/.bashrc or
~/.xsession. And after this, all other is done automagicaly

Pleas note, that the structure is:

~/.Xresources/de_DE.UTF-8/
~/.Xresources/de_DE@euro/
~/.Xresources/de_DE/
~/.Xresources/de/
~/.Xresources/C/
~/.Xresources/

which mean, you can localize your Xresources.

NOTE: I have started a new project of localizing the
"/etc/X11/app-defaults" and it is a little bit more
complicate and a heavy job, but it works perfectly!

Thanks, Greetings and nice Day
