and drivers . . .

Run alsaconf to set up the driver, add yourself to the audio group, run
alsamixer to unmute the channels.

I have heard that alsaconf is deprecated. So it might be removed in the next
couple of releases. But it works in Etch.

OK _ ran alsaconf and it went fine. I was already in the audio group (I
remembered that one . . . ) and then I ran alsamixer and the channels are
unmuted but still no sound . . .

What next? What commands should I execute to get the data I need to figure this
out?

Thanks
