Hmmm. Typing wrfg.org/listen.asp into Iceweasel resolves to
http://streaming.wrfg.org/listen.pls which fires up gxine 0.5.11 and
plays perfectly.

Indeed - and gxine is a frontend to xine. As I said, xine-based
players have no trouble with the WRFG stream, it's Rhythmbox, a
gstreamer-based player, which can't play it.
