Re: how to add text to real media file

Thanks! I have translation in a text file, but I am not sure it's in
right format for mplayer to use.

Debian etch has mplayer, but it does not have real media codec, and I
have not installed that.

Merging translation text with real media file will make distributing it
easy.

Which package can do that? Thanks!

Do you already have the subtitles in the language of your choice? In
that case, many players will be able to display the subtitles when
playing the movie. Try mplayer with the -sub option.

Unless you plan on watching the film on a standalone hardware player,

you do not really have to encode the subtitles into the film.
If you really want to do that, you can use mencoder (installed as
part
of mplayer, if you compile from sources)
