You'll find the configuration of the currently running kernel in
/proc/config.gz. At least Debian kernels have that feature enabled by
default.

Unfortunately this is not the case with 2.6.24-1-686-bigmem.

Strange. linux-image-2.6.25-2-amd6 has it.
