I've a mostly etch system and wanted to try the 2.6 kernel.

root@/deb40a:~> apt-get update
root@/deb40a:~> grep "Package: kernel-source" /var/lib/dpkg/available
Package: kernel-source-2.4.27
Package: kernel-source-2.2.25
Package: kernel-source-2.6.8

root@/deb40a:~> apt-get install kernel-source-2.6.8
Reading Package Lists... Done
Building Dependency Tree... Done
Package kernel-source-2.6.8 is not available,
but is referred to by another package.
This may mean that the package is missing, has been obsoleted, or
is only available from another source
E: Package kernel-source-2.6.8 has no installation candidate

Try grepping 'linux-source'; the nomenclature has changed.
