Now, I switched from windowsxp to debian with the above ip
configurations, but I don't know how should I set my debian using the
above ip configurations, to be more specifically, the main issue in my
case is that: the gateway doesn't locate at the same subnet of the IP
Address.
As you rightly point out, the gateway is not located on the same subnet
as your IP address. In effect this means that you cannot communicate to
any host beyond your own subnet.
I'd called this IP setup 'broken'!
It sounds like either your IP address is set incorrectly, or
alternatively that your gateway address is set incorrectly.
In order to fix this, you need either:
- a different IP address, falling in the same subnet as your quoted
gateway address, or
- a corrected gateway address which shares the same subnet as your
quoted IP address.
If you're on a corporate or academic network, I'd speak to your local
network admin to figure out what the correct settings should be, because
the settings you give above will not work on *any* OS (assuming the
information you've provided is accurate and complete).
This is just what puzzle me a lot. In fact, I obtain the above ip
configurations from within my windows xp by _ipconfig /all_ and the windows
xp itself can surf on the Internet smoothly, for you information, I
give you here all of the informations of the command _ipconfig /all_:
