A question: Is there any documentation of what all these setting are
supposed to do? Short of reading the source code, which is not really
documentation of what "they are *supposed* to do". "supposed to do" is
an issue of programmer intent. The source is a statement of what the
program *actually does, as written*.
I doubt there is a fully up-to-date and complete list, but

seems to be pretty close to that.
