Re: willing to learn php basics

I can't speak to what you need in Debian specifically as I've done most of my php/mysql stuff thus far on a XAMPP installation on Windows. As such, I'll be keeping an eye on this thread as well ;)

I will say that the book 'Head First: PHP & MySQL' from O'Reilly (http://www.headfirstlabs.com/books/hfphp/) has been very helpful for me as far as getting going with these two technologies.
