That was it! I replaced
allow-hotplug eth0
at the top of the stanza by
auto eth0
and now it works fine!

which doesn't seem to explain what software is doing the work after the plugin of the ethernet cord...
and only if auto and not
allow-hotplug eth0
does anyone know?
