Dear list,

I have tested my webcam with guvcviwe and the cam is running fine.
Now I like to place a tiny viewer on my desktop which simply
sits at the corner of my desktop and whenever I like I can
record the views. Is there any ?

I'd suggest GKrellKam (a plugin for the wondeful system monitor,
GKrellM). It'll put a thumbnail of your webcam in the stack and clicking
on it will pop out the picture in a window - from there you can save the
image.

Thanks.

GKrellM though takes the shot. what about live recording ?
I mean my ideal application should show the views through webcam
and when user click on it, it will starts recording, and another click
it saves the file and stops.

Perhaps Cheese will do what you want?
